New Ultra Compact Cable Extension Sensor for Long Measuring Lengths

ASM extends its portfolio for displacement and position measurement for mobile working machines. The new posiwire® sensor WS21 has been designed for measuring ranges up to 20 000mm. It is fitted with a robust, non-contact, magnetic multi-turn-sensing encoder, which gives wear free operation and enables very long measuring lengths to be packaged in compact designs. Typical applications include linear measurements for crane booms.

The new posiwire® WS21 position sensor is uniquely equipped with a magnetic encoder allowing non-contact measurement of angle rotation giving wear-free operation. This results in a high level of operational safety and a long service life. With a protection class of IP67/69K this sensor is able to withstand harsh environmental conditions and ensures highest safety against breakdown in the field. Being highly resistant to water, moisture and condensation the posiwire® WS21 sensors are designed to work reliably even in outdoor applications with large fluctuations in temperature. The high resistance against shock (100g/11ms ) and vibration (20g 10Hz-2kHz) increases the functional reliability of the sensor, avoiding expensive machine downtime and repairs.
